Amazon.com Inc. has announced that it will open a new Amazon Australian fulfilment centre in the Southwest of Sydney at the second half of this year to continue to support its growing operations.
This is a step forward for Amazon Australia who opened their first fulfilment centre in Melbourne in December 2017 to service Australian communities.
The new 43,000 square metre Sydney fulfilment centre will support the growing demand and allow Amazon to speed up delivery and increase product selection to all customers across Australia.
Amazon is continuing to aim at attracting more sellers and shoppers to its Australian site by offering sellers and third-party traders access to this fulfilment centre and services.
This means that traders are able to send the products they are selling to Amazon’s fulfilment centre’s and pay Amazon Australia to pick, pack and ship orders to customer’s in Australia and overseas. They will also handle returns.

The launch of Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) means that Amazon is confident its Australian logistics infrastructure is capable of taking on an influx of new products. It is not only beneficial for logistical reasons for all sellers but it will also allow tem to reach more markets and ship products faster than other third-party providers.
The bonus for customers is that when products are shipped through FBA they are eligible for Amazon’s customer service which includes free delivery on all orders over $49.
For all small businesses, there’s so much to do on a day-to-day basis when it comes to running and growing a business. Having the ability to outsource the logistics at a far more competitive price than what they can operate themselves is a fantastic benefit.
